SCO Musician Highlight: Amanda Montgomery

Next in our SCO musician highlights is yet another fantastic member of the brass section - meet Amanda Montgomery! Amanda has been with Stratus for 10 years.

Amanda earned her B.A. in Music from University of Northern Colorado, and her M.M. in Music Performance from the University of New Mexico. Besides performing with Stratus, she is also a freelance musician, and has held positions with the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, Santa Fe Symphony, and the San Juan Symphony. Her day job is working in sales.

Amanda believes everyone should get to hear Stratus perform. She states that everyone in the ensemble is committed to performing their best and is devoted to the organization, which keeps the orchestra innovative and creative. One of her favorite performance memories was playing the finale of the Great Gates of Kiev from Pictures at an Exhibition in college, and having a complete stranger hug her and say she had never heard a performance so beautiful it moved her to tears. More than anything, Amanda loves the feeling she gets sharing something so amazing and special with others, hoping to move them and share joy.

In her free time, Amanda loves reading, movies, astrology, and cats.
